PLACE TO VISIT

The Textile Machines Museum

The Textile Machines Museum

This museum is at present inside the “Istituto Tecnico Industriale Marzotto-Luzzatti” in Viale Carducci 9 in Valdagno, a huge building planned and built within the “Città Sociale” by Count Gaetano Marzotto in 1936.

Through the years it has been a model and a point of reference for the textile factories of the territory.
It is mounted in a part of the Institute devoted to the school spinning, preparation and weaving laboratories.
The museum site has a structure very much like a factory one with reinforced concrete pillars and lintels.
The cover is with reticular beams in reinforced concrete as well. This kind of building, typical of that period, recalls some parts of Lanificio Marzotto. Inside, the most peculiar and interesting plants are the hoist with the buried floor, the humidifier and the atomization plants.

The Museum started its activity in 1999 and was completed in due time with the aim of witnessing the technological progress of a business which deeply marked Valdagno and its outskirts.

In the spinning-room bound to be part of the school, used on didactic purposes, you can see working last generation looms both for smooth and wrought clothes and it is possible to compare different methods of planning and production.

The Museum which is part of the Rete Museale dell’Alto Vicentino, is an excellent didactic way to support schools and can spur those ones who are interested in the technical-industrial progress and in the social and economic history of this area.

Opening times (on booking): during the school year: from Monday to Friday 9.00-12.30 and 15.00-18.00.
