PLACE TO VISIT

Sightseeing Valdagno

Imagine a river which flows all through a town; it is quite common and places by rivers have always taken advantage of and made the most of it. Valdagno is indeed one of them: the river Agno flows peacefully through it and thanks to the power of its waters favoured its industrial development and it splits it into two units which are actually two different towns.

The Historic Centre and the “Città dell’Armonia” (the Harmony City)

On the right bank there is the cosy historic centre: a street winds along four squares and it is overlooked by churches and palaces, most of which date back to the Seventeenth century.

On the left bank there is the “Città dell’Armonia”, a neighbourhood founded around 1930 by Gaetano Marzotto’s idea who meant to provide the workers of the big textile factory Marzotto with nice and comfortable houses but also with tree-lined boulevards, gardens, services and facilities for the sport and the free time.

Connected to the textile industry there are several hydroelectric plants born along the river Agno, a model of industrial archeology and still active and worth visiting.
