WHO WE ARE

120 years of ProValdagno

An important celebration of all Valdagno for an important target.

120 years from that far 28th september 1902: the Association meant to recall this important anniversary the 30th september 2022 with an emotional concert by the instrumental band V.Emanuele Marzotto Città di Valdagno directed by Massimo Gonzo inside the Marzotto woollen factory, a trademark of the working Valdagno, closely connected to the factory itself. The concert was open with the piece “Valdagno lanifera”(woollen Valdagno) composed in 1930 by Angelo Castellani, music director of the Marzotto band at the beginning of 1900.

The celebrations of 120 years of ProValdagno went on with the issuing of a beautiful book by Vittorio Visonà, a real “valdagnese”: “Tra forme e memorie. Otto secoli di storia a Valdagno” (“Between shapes and memories. Eight centuries of history in Valdagno”). Issued in 2023 this work was thought particularly for the valdagnesi (the people from Valdagno), to make them proud to live in a town rich in art and history. The author, Visonà as a guardian of the past and of the traditions of Valdagno, ideally going through 8 centuries of its history recounts its works of art!

This is far more than a book, it is a gift for the town and an opportunity to find out and to feel part of the history and of the masterpieces of Valdagno, kept and cherished by Valdagno and ProValdagno.

“The 120 years have been a meaningful step for the life of our Association and we wished to find a way besides the concert organized inside Fabbrica Marzotto, to bring straight to the future our role of guardians of the territory.
We looked back at the past steps in order to respect the memory of the places that we saw many times but never looked with the due attention. It is just due to this consideration that we felt the need to gather in this book all the proofs of the past still evident. We wish that this rewinding of the past and at the same time projecting to the future will take ProValdagno to work for our town for many decades ahead. We also hope that after going through and reading the pages of this book, every valdagnese will feel prouder to belong to a town so rich in art and history.

Emanuela Perin, President of ProValdagno
